Atidim operations focus on building a strong Israeli society by maximizing the human potential found in the periphery, for the benefit of individuals, society and the economy. Atidim cultivates excellence, supports higher education and provides the tools needed for it's participants to become active contributing members of Israel society.
Atidim identifies youth, from the geographic and social periphery, with academic potential and works with them beginning in junior high and high school, through their army service and university studies, until they are integrated into the workforce.
The cycle of deprivation in the periphery is widening from generation to generation
The gaps between the periphery and the center of the country are widening. The economic gaps cause gaps in the education system which result in psychological gaps; these are expressed in the lack of self confidence and feelings of lack of capability conveyed by youth in the periphery. The dramatic differences in opportunities seem almost insurmountable and just perpetuate the situation and its destructive results. Children who do not receive the basics, as talented as they may be, have difficulties in pushing forward and leaving the cycle of deprivation and neglect.
The path to breaking the cycle of deprivation is through education, cultivation and enrichment
We at Atidim believe that only education for excellence and appropriate enrichment can break this very cycle. Atidim programs, from ages 13 to 30, pay special attention to advancing vulnerable populations deserving of advancement, such as new immigrants and minorities within Israeli society.
The success of youth and Atidim graduates influences their surroundings, their family, and the society where they live, and advances their integration into Israeli society. We believe that this is the path to change the face of Israeli society. To create a future.
Atidim – the future
Atidim will continue to focus on the development and empowerment of the individual, the family, and the educational environment, the goal being to reduce social gaps and building a stronger Israeli society.
By focusing on communities in the geographic and social periphery and by developing partnerships, we will work to empower, to cultivate, to initiate opportunities and to chart a path for those youth who excel and have academic potential from their integration into Atidim programs, through their entry into the work force and public service.
Our goal: to create in the coming decades a critical mass of tens of thousands of young people with academic degrees
We aim to have tens of thousands of graduates from all of the Atidim tracks who will serve as a lever for social economic change in the State of Israel. These graduates will exert influence on the education system in the periphery, will be the ones to create future employment opportunities, will be the force behind industrial development, and at the forefront of technology and innovation in the country.
We do not speak in terms of giving, but in terms of investing. An investment in Israelis society and its future. It is only in this manner that we will be able to win the battle of the country’s image, to significantly reduce the gaps in Israeli society, to close the distance between the periphery and the center, to build a society which is productive and not dependent – for the benefit of an Israel which is strong and prosperous.
